Kat is based out of Seattle, Washington
"The artist,
Liz Rosino, is blending her formal art education with the aesthetics
of 1950s kitschiness and traditional tattoo art to bring you unique
clothing, accessories, and housewares.
After having graduated
from one of the top art and design schools in the country with a
solid traditional highbrow art education in the foundations of drawing,
painting, design, and color theory, her own art career has taken
to a more lowbrow and whimsical appeal, yet still relies firmly
on these strong art and design skills. As a self-taught seamstress,
she also creates clothing designs that are mid-century inspired
but with a punk rock edge.
Lucky Kat was started
in the fall of 2003 to showcase her work and has certainly found
its niche among those interested in punk rock, rockabilly, and psychobilly
music, hot-rodders, and tattoo enthusiasts, but also those who appreciate
unique, handmade, and one-of-a-kind items created with a DIY ethic.
She is also the
founder and event coordinator of Craftin' Outlaws, Ohio's largest
alternative craft fair. This annual fair features 60 talented artists,
designers, and crafters selling their hip handmade wares."
